Important update
FitOn connects to Samsung Health through Health Connect.
Samsung Health supports a direct connection with Health Connect, which means your Samsung Health data can sync with FitOn without using Google Fit.
This is now the recommended and most reliable setup for Samsung devices.
How Samsung Health works with Health Connect
Samsung Health can both read from and write to Health Connect. FitOn also reads and writes data to Health Connect.
This allows data to flow seamlessly:
Samsung Health → Health Connect → FitOn
FitOn → Health Connect → Samsung Health
As long as both apps are connected to Health Connect and have the proper permissions, syncing happens automatically.
Do I need Google Fit?
No, if you use Samsung Health:
Google Fit is not required
There is no benefit to installing Google Fit as a middle step
Removing Google Fit will not break your Samsung Health sync
Samsung Health + Health Connect is the cleanest and most direct setup.
Recommended Setup
Step 1: Connect Samsung Health to Health Connect
Open the Samsung Health app
Go to Settings
Tap Health Connect
Allow Samsung Health to read and write health data
Step 2: Connect FitOn to Health Connect
Open the FitOn app
Go to Profile
Tap Settings
Select Health Connect
Allow FitOn access to the requested data types
Once both apps are connected, data will begin syncing automatically.
What changed from the old setup?
Previously:
Some users used Google Fit as an intermediary between Samsung Health and FitOn
This added extra steps and additional points of failure
Now:
Samsung Health connects directly to Health Connect
FitOn connects directly to Health Connect
Google Fit is no longer needed for Samsung Health users
This results in faster syncing and fewer sync issues.
Syncing workouts
All future workouts recorded in Samsung Health will sync to FitOn once Health Connect is enabled
Workouts logged in FitOn will appear in Samsung Health (if permissions allow)
Past workouts recorded before enabling Health Connect cannot be retroactively synced
Syncing steps
To ensure steps sync correctly:
Confirm steps are tracking in Samsung Health
Confirm Samsung Health is connected to Health Connect
Confirm FitOn is connected to Health Connect
Check Health Connect permissions for step data
If steps appear in Samsung Health but not in FitOn, verify that FitOn has permission to read step data in Health Connect.
Using Samsung Health–Only Features
Samsung Health may collect additional metrics (such as stress, sleep stages, or body composition).
FitOn will only read data types that it supports
Unsupported data types will remain visible in Samsung Health only
You remain in full control of what data is shared through Health Connect
